Phase III

Reclaiming my physical health.
Caffiene free for a week.  Regular sleep for a week and some change.  Supplements.  Mood improving.  I’m not in a constant fog.  It’s enough to make one giddy.
Tomorrow will be my third day of the big hill climb.  I’ve been riding from our house to the foothills an up Shaw mountain road [...]

my shopping rant

I      !@#%!$@#!$%@$@^@%@$!    HATE
the self checkout stations that are ever so popular in grocery stores these days.
AND I have had it with the piss poor customer service at my local Albertsons/Supervalue whatever the hell it’s called right now.
I understand that it’s an attempt to supposedly speed up lines and reduce personnel costs but half the time the [...]

Is spring finally here?

…It feels like it today.
Doc wasn’t kidding when she said three weeks.
5 days of 9 hours/sleep at night and  I still feel like I haven’t fully recovered.  However, I do already feel a difference.  My coping abilities and mood is definitely shifting to the positive.  Getting my confidence back.  My sense of ambition is also coming [...]

A sudden surge of optimism

The past month has been hell walking!
For the sake of my health and my academic endeavors I left a job with nothing to fall back on.  And then the discovery of my “credits completed” ratios nearly finished me off last weekend.
Today is the first day in a long time I feel like I have some [...]

Phase II

Saw the P.A. yesterday.  Confirmed that my issues are from severe sleep deprivation.  The good news is my BP is fine 120/70 and resting heart rate is at 60….although I had it down to 56/57 when I was training hard.  (Sleep deprivation can elevate those).  Running blood tests to make sure there aren’t any thyroid [...]

Phase 1

Starting a daily dose of vitamins and supplements.  Quit Caffiene cold turkey. Tomorrow I see the Doc and go from there.  I did get some good financial news Monday morning though.

Sleep deprivation 101

I should be a case study on the effects of sleep deprivation.  And yes I’m writing this at 3 a.m. with 4 more hours of work yet to go.  I’ve been in denial regarding it’s effects for some time up until recently.  Lately it’s about the only thing I’ve been blogging about.   Now things are [...]

Meet the worm

Remember that line from the movie “the crow” by “skank”?
”I feel like a little worm on a big fuckin’ hook”
I’m feelin’ like the worm right now.  My sleep deprivation has seriously compunded exponentially the past 3 months.  This semester’s class schedule and my all nighter weekend shifts have turned me into a zombie.
Today was particularly [...]

New day rising

April 20th will be my last shift.  I thought it to be poetic to give my 3 weeks notice on April Fool’s day.  The effects of sleep deprivation have been getting progressively worse.  Saturday I finished my math homework at work around 2 a.m. I don’t remember doing it.  I turned it in Monday morning [...]

40-Love

My oldest (he’s 6)  has recently developed an interest in Tennis.  I suppose we can blame Wii tennis for this.  His technique is certainly entertaining.  But he has kicked my ass on occasion, goofy swing style and all.
So Friday I piled both kids into the van and took them to “rafiki” a local “indoor playground”.  [...]
