Walking in syrup

Mentally I feel sharp.  Physically I feel like I’m moving in slow motion.  Walking through syrup.  If my mental and physical ’selves’ ever become congruent…I’d be dangerous.

I am now the proud owner of a sinus bug.  Mornings are the worst.  After a good round of pain killers & OTC meds I can usually get moving by 9.

I seem to be kicking some ass in my math class.  I’ve been maintaining an “A” so far and wednesday I pseudo tutored 2 other students on solving equations with radicals.  Roots & Radicals have always been a hurdle for me because there so many different sets of rules for solving.  I also discovered something the other night which explained why I had such a difficulty with some of this last semester.

When graphing a function with a radical I finally noticed a stupid error.  Before I didn’t notice that on some equations the radical operator (you know, the check mark with a horizontal line thing) did not extend over the entire equation.  This is a completely different type of equation and the light bulb finally lit above my head.  So when graphing a function such as F(x)= (square root of:) x-5, the line begins 5 points right on the X axis. The equation can’t be a negative number because the square root of a negative number is not a real number.  However, the function f(x)= (square root of) x  Followed by -5 that isn’t included in the radical establishes the line on the Y axis and can be a negative number because it is not included in the radical.  There were points last semester where I honestly thought I was losing my mind.

This weekend I’ll be 2 weeks ahead in my math homework and will start preparing for the most difficult test of the semester.  Then I’ll be putting together my speech for my COMM class and this semester will be mostly on the downhill slide.

Off to brew some coffee and work on the house.  Will post something on last night’s debate later.
