I took my 5 yr old son to see the new Indiana Jones movie last night. We loved it. My son has a thing for aliens anyway. You’ve probably read plenty of reviews that pan it…but this is a movie for your inner 8 yr old and not supposed to be based on whether or not it’s plausible or realistic. You’ve seen the other 3 movies, you know the patterns, you’re not expecting to see groundbreaking new cinema here or see award winning drama. It’s all about a classic character doing the impossible with the improbable and enjoying the ride. Suspend your disbelief for a couple of hours…reality is grossly overated. My highlight was seeing it with my son- sharing some popcorn, drinking soda and being dudes.
I particularly liked the bit with the snake and the nuclear test scene where indi survives a nuclear blast by locking himselve inside of a lead lined refrigerator. Yes, we all know how improbable that is…get over it. That’s funny shit! Especially for anyone over 30 that remembers the “cold war” era with the Soviet Union. I thought they handled the aging aspect well and with class. I loved the comment at the end of the movie by Indi’s cohort:
“How much of human life…is waiting?”.
Indeed!
