$150.00 yearly car registration?

Governor Otter is proposing a flat fee for all vehicle registration and increasing it to $150.00 per vehicle, per year. This is nearly tripling what I am currently paying. Does this seem insane?
“Otter has said Idaho must address a roads-funding shortfall that is nearing $250 million and that tax or fee increases are [...]

Radiohead’s Web venture spooks Wall Street

Here’s a blog from November.  What’s interesting aside from the article are all the responses to it!
Radiohead’s Web venture spooks Wall Street
“what’s more disturbing is that Radiohead and a growing number of top acts perceive the Internet as an attractive alternative to record labels. Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor has indicated that he [...]

More Artists Ditching Major Labels

With the successful release of Radiohead’s 7th album, ‘In Rainbows,’ today, an experiment in treating fans like fans and not just empty-headed money dispensers has begun. We thought we’d take a look at the other artists going the label-free route.
British pop rock stars and Beatles worshipers Oasis recently parted ways with their record label. The [...]

Sony BMG is facing possible lawsuits

It all started with Mark Russinovich testing RootKitRevealer, a program used to find rootkits installed by hackers to hide viruses, spyware, and trojans they install on computers they have broken into. These programs allow them to gain control over a computer to do their nefarious deeds.

Hidden Gem: God Is An Astronaut

With a little digging I’ve been stumbling over some great new music. Refreshing to know that there is still good music being made in spite of the recording industry’s issues. So periodically I’ll post some of these “hidden gems”, feel free to check them out and make up your own mind.
The first on the list [...]

The Fall & Rise of Music

Read this article in a recent issue of WIRED magazine.  Written by David Byrne (Talking Heads fame) it goes into 6 new business models for recording artists big and small.  DIY is the most attractive.
”The CD? It’s Dead.  Todays artists have surprising new ways to reach fans & make a living.  A guided tour of [...]

Fixmer McCarthy – Between The Devil

I first stumbled upon Nitzer Ebb when they released their ”Belief” album in1988/89.  “Nitzer Ebb” pronounced “NITE-zer Ebb” is a completely made up word that fit the nature of the music.
I was blown away.  To this day the epitomy of everything I love about electronic music is encompassed in this album.  It is definately in my [...]
